African Missionary Kids
African missionary kids (AMKs) grow up in a culture other than the culture of their extended family, while their parents are cross-cultural missionaries. They face unique challenges in their lives, like never being sure of their exact identity. Ask them "Where are you from?" and see the struggle to answer. They also have unique strengths and, often, a beautiful influence on the lives of their parents' ministry. For many years, AMKs have been overlooked. New organizations are rising up to come alongside them in their sometimes-rocky journeys. We've gathered a few resources here, including child safety standards written by Cath Swanson of Africa Inland Mission. Let's safeguard our MKs and find ways to understand them and uplift them. Please write to us at info@afrigo.org if you know of more resources we can share! This page is under construction.
Important resource! Read and download these free child safety manuals in English and Swahili. They are geared toward an African context, and show how to safeguard children in our churches and communities. This information is critical reading for every person in ministry, whether working directly with children or not.
