Dokkal Joomiraawo ɓuri jaɓiren juuɗe,

Mo’ere Makko ɓuri yimiren kunduɗe;

Habaru seyo Makko ɓuri fijiren koyɗe.

Seyo kisidam meen ɓuri suuɗen nder ɓerde.

 

We cannot collect the gift of God with our [tinny hands],

His grace, we cannot sufficiently express with our [small mouths].

His Good News, we cannot dance enough to express.

The joy of our redemption/salvation is not meant to be hidden in our hearts.

 

Ɗume kokketen Laamɗo ngam enɗam makko?

Noy Habaru seyo kisdam meen nder Yeesu suuɗorto?

Kisdam Joomiraawo meeɗen sakitataako.

Ɗe faamɗataa boo, Dokke ɗe njettirten mo!

 

What can we give to our King for his mercy?

How can our salvation in Jesus be suppressed?

God’s salvation never comes late.

And our presents to Him are never too small!

This poem expresses the three wise old men bring precious gifts in a clean and beautiful calabash to Jesus’ mother.  She collects with her heartfelt gratitude. In turn, the Magi receive God’s gift of salvation with their heart.  Inspired by the Fulɓe culture and Dr. Daniel Dama (Africa Sings), the artist has portrayed this scene as one we can truly engage with.  Dr. Dama’s poem is written in his native language, Fulfulde.
