“What am I going to do?” – a missionary moment

My name is Doris Ileso, currently serving as a missionary in Kaduna State, Nigeria.

I remember so clearly in August of 2025, that I knew that something was very wrong. I discovered that my food stock was running low and I had nothing coming in, not from anywhere at that time because my resources were exhausted.

I thought, “What am I going to do?” At some point I had nothing at home, no food at all.  It was a very challenging time and I kept praying. I didn’t even have money to buy personal products or soap for bathing. I kept looking in the cupboard and seeing there was nothing. I was continually seeking God’s provision, because I really needed resources. I didn’t want to ask anyone specifically at that time, I just wanted to believe God for a miracle.

One day, while praying in the morning, this Scripture came to my spirit: “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will of him who sent me and to finish his work.” (John 4:34 NIV) It occurred to me that the resources I need will come to me, when I consistently do the will of God. Then, I took time to reflect and pause on some things he wanted me to do. One of those things was to reach out more in street evangelism to some group of people.

After this obedience, I saw God come through for me, through provision of the exact resources I needed to take care of my needs in that season.
