“Musa’s countenance had completely changed” – a missionary moment
The story of Musa*
We met Musa* in our earlier days of ministry and became good friends. We often welcomed him to our house for some spiced tea. Tea was accompanied by talks about religion and life in general.
One day he passed by and found us watching “More than Dreams,” a compilation of stories of how some Christians from Muslim background encountered Jesus.
Musa watched with us in bewilderment. He didn’t say a word. He took his tea and left.
One Saturday evening after dinner, he began to speak with his eyes fixed to the ground. He said been watching our lives and those clips and now he wanted to follow Jesus.
I quoted the penalty he may pay for denouncing Islam. He looked at me in approval and said, “Let this remain between you and your wife.”
He came looking for us the following day and told us Jesus had appeared to him that night and spoke to him.
“Musa* my son, you are beginning a new life. I will be with you and walk with you. I will never leave you alone. I will always be there for you. Don’t be afraid or fear for your life”.
And Jesus stretched his hand and touched him.
Musa’s countenance had completely changed. His joy was unending. He hugged all of us. Everybody who knew him asked him to explain what has happened to him.
We have seen God defend this brother through thick and thin. He lost his job immediately he gave his life to Jesus. He faced forceful eviction from the homestead by his relatives. They even hired goons to kill him but he escaped miraculously. They have tried all means to eliminate him without success. He is still standing and reaching out to others in his town.
*Not his real name.
