Missionary profile – Kingsley Okeke and Beauty Boitumelo Okeke

Kingsley Okeke and Beauty Boitumelo Okeke
From Nigeria to Botswana
In January 1999, I boarded a plane from Botswana to Nigeria to train as a missionary. In June of the same year, a new student joined the missions school. The new student became my husband years later, and we’re now serving with CAPRO as missionaries in Botswana.
I (Boitumelo) got saved after I joined the national service. My elder sister always preached to me, and I wouldn’t say I liked it. She’d put the small Gideon’s New Testament Bible in my bags whenever I travelled. When I was leaving for the national service, she slipped the Bible into my bag!
One day when there was no party, I was bored, so I decided to read the little Bible. I landed on Galatians 6:8, “Whoever sows to please their flesh, from the flesh will reap destruction; whoever sows to please the Spirit, from the Spirit will reap eternal life.”
I knew I’d surely die from this ‘corruption.’ So I prayed the sinner’s prayer as I had heard my sister do.
I (Kingsley) grew up in church. One day, I felt a strong nudge to return to church after getting home from the church service. I took my Bible and went back to church. When the preacher made an altar call, I gave my life to God. I got saved. But my father wasn’t happy about me; he rejected me.
I started studying the life of Paul and was captivated by it. God convinced me that He wanted me to be a missionary. I attended a CAPRO missions conference, and the Lord opened my eyes. I enrolled in the CAPRO School of Mission.
After I (Boitumelo) got saved, my church conducted door-to-door evangelism. There was a new couple in town, and we went to preach to them. They turned out to be CAPRO missionaries! They didn’t know the local language, so I offered to interpret for them.
I saw what they were doing, and I knew that’s what I wanted to do! So, I went to CAPRO School of Missions, where I met Kingsley.
We have since been planting churches in Botswana. I (Boitumelo) gather children and teach them about Jesus and missions. It’s a joy to see the children catch God’s vision for the nations. Two of them are joining us as missionaries soon – I have trained them since they were five years old!
I (Kingsley) have been reaching out to young people. We organize vacation training for university students to expose them to the call of God. We also teach the students and staff at a nursing school near us on missions.
Our African Church needs to rise from our comfort zones and go to where the need is. We’re doing church activities when there are people who haven’t heard about the Lord. We need to think beyond ourselves and take the gospel to those who haven’t heard about it.
- For provision, we’re struggling financially as a ministry.
- For strength and wisdom to shape the children’s character to the likeness of God.
- For more passionate, young labourers. We’re only three missionaries in CAPRO Botswana; we thank God for two coming soon.
- For a brother who works with us and is trusting God for a life partner.
