“Full of worries, complaints and doubt” – a missionary moment

In the second year of our life in the mission field, the financial challenge and lack was always one thing that made us question God’s call for us.

I remember one time when it became so heavy. There were unmet needs and many more anticipated. At that time my wife and I decided to go to a quiet, lonely place to just talk and maybe pray.

We left our phones at home to avoid distractions.

Our time together was full of worries, complaints and doubt whether God was indeed the one who called us to the mission field.

We came back discouraged. But as I checked my phone, I found someone had sent us some money. I surely knew that very moment that it was God responding to our complaints and doubt. We then realized God was committed to supplying our daily needs as we served him. Many times we want the future to be sorted, but God faithfully supplies our daily needs. He has been faithful to us. He keeps surprising us. We keep trusting him for grace to look to him as our security even as we serve him.

We still struggle, but with hope and trust in him as the one who called us and wants to use us for his glory among the people who do not yet know him.
